The Lancashire Fusiliers are famed for their action at Gallipoli when the 1st Battalion landed at Cape Helles and won six Victoria Crosses – Britain’s highest award for bravery. This action became known as “Six VCs Before Breakfast!”
The Tommy’s War team wanted to show the Wolseley helmet being worn by one of the territorial battalions that had embarked for the Dardanelles from Egypt and landed at Helles a few days after the 1st Battalion.
Inspired by the book “Hell Let Loose” by Neil Drum and Roger Dowson, the figure depicts a Private soldier of the 1/7th (Salford) Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers wearing the Wolseley helmet and 1914 Pattern equipment. Armed with the “Long Lee Enfield” rifle the figure depicts how members of the Battalion were dressed and equipped when they landed. The Battalion went on to serve with distinction in Gallipoli.
The figure was sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi and the box artwork was painted by Gunther Sternberg.

This figure has been painted by the expert painter Stelios Neofitidis and published as article in Figure Modelling 22 by Mr Black Publications. He has used acrylics and the figure is mounted on a high quality pedestal wooden base. The figure is made from resin. The figure is strongly fitted to a wooden varnished base and has a scratch built groundwork. The colors' selection has been made after historical research, so that the result is as close as possible to the British Infantry Soldier of the ERA. This particular model is a collectible. It makes a great gift for any history lover and collector. I will ship the figure secured into a strong hardboard box, within the shipping box to eliminate the possibility of transit damage. I only use registered mail with a tracking number.
